Sketch of a friend "Larry" who was visiting one evening and as he stood under the light where we were chatting, I called "Freeze.. don't move a muscle.!" because I noticed that fantastic light, shadow interplay across his face in a Rembrandt lighting style. I took a photo and did a sketch. I then took the opportunity to redraw Larry from the sketch at this larger size and took a little more time to fine tune his character and features, but all the while I was interested in preserving a good characterization of him in that angled light and that special look.
