Sylvie - Transcendental

Charcoal & Acrylic on Canvas

76.2cm x 101.5cm -(30" x 40")

This expressive portrait presents a beautiful young woman as she ponders some deep meditative thoughts and grapples with some of life’s challenges and pleasures that transcend ordinary earthly limits, boundaries and material experience, the universe and where she finds herself in it, dealing with abstract concepts, time, sense of being and the nature of reality. She is framed by a sweeping orange hallow accented by lively splashes of white. Sublayers of charcoal subtly shade the models face, flowing hair, skin, and silver-blue clothing with golden accent details that add warmth against the cool pale background, while the loose mark making brings energy and movement to the composition. A distinctive piece for adding personality and colour to your space.
